I'm glad to welcome back Polaris, after some weeks of absence!! And his character Ed whom we like very much

We also have a new character, Steve, Charlie's boyfriend, who is Alhena's second character (as she is reaching 100 fragments for Charlie). As Charlie is for now an hostage, somewhere unknwon, we can't wait to know what Charlie's family, friends and boyfriend are doing. This is a great idea, and I can't wait to start discovering this new character from the inside

Today Barack Obama, democratic candidate, became the 44th president of the United States of America, and the first African American president...

I do feel very moved. I think something big happened, and it's just the beginning. I'm glad to be able to watch this happening... Martin Luther King, 40 years ago, said "I have a dream". Does this mean, even with the crisis, wars, global warming, we can still believe things can change and get better?

How do you feel about this election?

If you want to join in, it's very simple.

1 - register

2 - create a character, and choose the city where he/she lives in

3 - write a first text (we call them fragment) about your character: it's written at the first person and present tense (it's like a stream of consciousness) about what's happening to your character on that day. It will happen on the same day than you post it.

4 - Post it in the Potentials part of the forum

Alhena did a very nice and interesting cross-over between her character Charlie and Altair's character on Alpha, Louis, in the french-speaking African city Dakar. Well done to her, it has been a pleasure to read all these fragments!

in Dakar

It’s quite hot outside, but I want to get out of the hotel. To see, and to meet the people of Dakar. I love this crowd of women dressed with those colourful boubous. I’m walking down the street, Steve’s hand in mine, feeling like I owned the world. We turn on the Gomarou Guèye Street. We’re strolling slowly, and turn now and then in the little streets that make up this area of Dakar. After a little while, we found an antique dealer, who opened a shop ...

I’m wearing the gorgeous dress Steve offered me on his return from Eastern Europe. It makes me look…

“Absolutely divine. If I wasn’t already in love with you, I think I’ll fall just by looking at you tonight…”

“Really?” I turn around to face him. “Do you mean that whoever looks at me tonight will fall in love with me?” I say, with a little smile.

“Well,… They might, yes. But hey, too late, no?”

“Definitively! Alright, I think we should go now, otherwise ...

I open my eyes upon the warmth of the orange of the ceiling. I stretch like a cat, and lay there, enjoying my first real morning of holidays. This place is so silent, you wouldn't believe we're in a massive 5-star hotel, on the Atlantic Ocean. I close my eyes. Geez, holidays... It feels so good. Being here, with Steve. Eyes closed, I hear him quietly whistling a song. I look at him. He walks back from the bathroom, the early morning light playing on his ...

At last, we make it through the customs. We wait a little while by the luggage belt. Steve looks quite confused, as every sign and announcement is in French here. He knew it before coming of course, and he got the same situation during summer when he went to East Europe.

It's about ten o'clock when I finally get home. I close the door as silently as I can, I think Steve is already in bed... I drop my bag on the kitchen table, and make myself some tea. I can hear Buddy Guy, my favourite blues man playing on the hi-fi. Steve must have forgotten to turn it off. When the tea is ready, I pour myself a cup and check that my phone is off. in Glasgow

The sun is shining on my face. I close my eyes and appreciate this moment which I know won't probably happen before long. I leave my hands on the book I was reading, and decide to relax a little. I'm sitting down on a bench in the Botanic Gardens. People are around, but I only hear them through a veil. It's still work time, so only students and people like me enjoy the last rays of sunshine. What am I doing here? I mean, I love this place, but... Steve ...

in Glasgow

I've felt a bit down lately. My job is taking a lot of my time, when I'd like to have more time for things I regard as essential: my well-being, my family, Steve, my friends... Well, all those things. I'm tired of waiting for things to happen. There is so much I want to do, and so little time left maybe to do it. Everyday that passes by, I tell myself "What did you do today that made a difference?". The answer, frankly, is usually "nothing". ...

Hey folks

Have you ever had almost perfect inspiration to write something but then found you were lacking in the language to write it? I'm not talking about translational or vocabulary problems I mean have you ever found yourself with a great idea but you cannot seem to find the words that do it justice?

I just have. I was going to write a fragment for Ed today but for some reason I could not get comfortable with anything I wrote.

I have a theory as to why this is. Normally I like ...

"Oh, hi Bob, how's it going?"

"Good, ta. Are you busy just now?"

"Can you come to my office? Now? Please."

With the weather, my hands are drying more and more. Jonathan tells me that when I caress him, it’s like being touched with rubber gloves. Thank you… I can’t help it, as my lips dry in the cold, and turn white leaving dead skins between my fingers as I stroke them, the palm of my hands have more and more wrinkles.

It seems the spiderweb of my future grows more and more complicated. Come on, I can’t have such a changing future. Why should my love line and life ...

I wouldn't say that he is the most beautiful guy on the planet, but he is gorgeous still. Especially when he is asleep. He's got that look about him, at peace, relaxed. Jon is not here anymore.

I go to the bathroom, and knock on the door. “Is it Jon?”

"Charlie, do you know any reason that will make Steve call me for help with you?"

"What?"

Why, Cameron? I thought I had finally managed to get his name out my ...
